Picturing a Post

The great hurdle has been picturing the act of writing a regular missive; the burning question has been whether this could maintain a level of interest for reading.

It seems the impetus and solution have been to post some pictures. Hopefully the images will engage for a deeper reading of this messy studio, this scattered community, this North / South Divide, this continental drift, this world-wide art tango.

As a first focus, The Breakfast Group – java and jive at the Richmond Art Center ( March 22 – May 30 ) provides a view of the work of thirty-one artists who meet for a weekly breakfast over which art, politics, sports, and life are hashed. The Group began when Elmer Bischoff, Sidney Gordin, and Erle Loran — all teaching at Berkeley — began meeting once a week to share a meal and talk about all that we put on the table…

The Richmond Art Center, with deep roots in the community, has mounted a stunning exhibition; the RAC has also turned the space over to the Group to open up a weekly potlucky Breakfast with the Breakfast Group every Saturday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Additionally, a weekly changing Spotlight exhibition will be highlighting individual artists who will be giving informal talks.

Bring your Cheerios and pull up a chair. Java and jive provided.  A Free and Open Program!
